Management: Consulting Education Development
Sequus is often called upon to use the considerable expertise of its four founding directors in Human Resource Development.

SECTORAL STUDIES: Sequus has examined the HR needs within several sectors including the audio recording industry, the health care products sector, the electronics sector, the plastic sector, the machining sector, the call center sector and has completed assignments for the aerospace sector. In addition, Sequus has taught Consulting Skills to HR specialists in many workplaces and provided HRD training to HRD consultants in public sector workforce development agencies.

DIAGNOSTIC SURVEYS and EVALUATION INSTRUMENTS
To diagnose needs Sequus has developed several popular, computerized TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT NEEDS SURVEYS that have been used across Canada to survey the needs of thousands of people in dozens of organizations. The survey approach has been endorsed by Ken Blanchard (of "THE ONE MINUTE MANAGER") fame. And it our management survey been translated into French and even Swahili in order to survey about 4,000 managers in the Tanzanian public service. The management survey comes in several versions including an Executive version, a Front-line Supervisor version, a Public Sector version and Non-Profit sector version.

Sequus also developed the ORGANIZATION DIAGNOSTIC SURVEY which has recently been used to gather employee input to change to two large organizations; THE BOARD DEVELOPMENT SURVEY which is used to assess board performance and establish board development plans; THE CORE COMPETENCIES SURVEY which serves as a training and development needs assessment tool for non-managerial staff; and THE MEMBER/CLIENT SERVICES SURVEY which gives clients and other key stakeholders input into strategic planning.

At the individual level, the LMAQ©: Self and Other are used to assess an individual leader's strengths in leading and managing. And the FLECstyle©: Self and Other are used to diagnose leadership style preferences. We have also developed many individual and group performance evaluation instruments to help assess the impact of training and other efforts at bringing about change in skills, knowledge and abilities; changes in behaviour; and changes in organizational impact.

AL HOLMES: Prior to getting involved in the consulting business, Al Holmes was a Human Resource specialist in several organizations. He has led or participated in several Human Resource studies. His experience goes back to the early 70's when he led a research team that looked at the integration of the staff of the various cities and towns that became the new City of Winnipeg. He has completed major HR studies of organizations including the Canadian Wheat Board, MTS, Manitoba Agriculture Credit Corporation, Manitoba Agriculture, Manitoba Government Services, the Post Office across Canada, E.H. Price, Sunshine Village Ski Resort, HBM&S, and the Government of Tanzania. Al completed major pioneering studies of the employment of aboriginals in the Manitoba and the Saskatchewan public sectors.
